Book Cover Design & Copywriting
Design for front, back and spine for book. I also wrote the copy. Created with assets from the Disney
database.
Book Cover Design & Copywriting
Design for front, back and spine for book. I also wrote the copy (and I'm rather proud of the
line,"...even though they're not queens, Princesses Rule!") Created with assets from the Disney
database.
Book Cover Design
Design & layout for front, back and spine for book of trilogy of Thor novels using file art for the front cover. I created the Nordic trade-dress specifically for this series, planning to do a high-tech trade-dress for Guardians of the Galaxy and so on. When the design assignment went to in-house personnel, I was told that they would be using the Thor trade-dress on all kinds of series. As long as the client is happy, I'm happy!

Book Cover Design
Temp cover for sales purposes. There was no art available so I took a Mjolnir icon from the Disney database and built the cover around it.
Logo & Book Cover Design
Temp cover for sales purposes. There was no art available so I created a version of Sif's sword to make this cover match the Thor Sales Cover. There was no logo so I created a custom SIF logo based on the THOR logo. Later, I was given the logo in the version below which, I was told, was the official Marvel version. I still think mine is cool, though, so I'm showing it here.

SIGNS, DISPLAYS, LOGOS, ADS, MOCKUPS
Kiosk Mockup
When my employer got the license for Hello Kitty, I was tasked with mocking up a Las Vegas hotel kiosk as a Hello Kitty-themed shop.
Trade Ad Design
Designed ad for Bookshelf Magazine.
Invitation & Logo Design
When apparel company Jerry Leigh wanted to throw a rock-themed party, I proposed "Leighlapalooza" and
designed the logo based on a logo for Lalapalooza. They wanted an invitation for an beach party in
Malibu so I used the Endless Summer poster and incorporated the DJ image around the sun to bring it
back to the music.
Logo Design

Logo Design and Animation
I created this logo for the client and then animated it when I created their website. I always liked it
but I must admit I liked it even more after Stan "The Man" Lee told me he liked the design.
(Validation!) See it live at Atlas Merchandise!
Logo Design
Made this stylized logo for a friend. Can you guess what his name is? I enjoyed making this so much that I'm thinking of making this into a full-fledged font!
Animated Logo
The still version of this logo was created by someone else. I animated it when I was creating the company's website. See it live at Waldrum Specialties!

Logo Design and Animation
The client didn't have a logo for this product so I created one that would fit with the existing logos' style and colors. The product is a substance that reduces the need for water in spraying which is why the big droplet becomes a small droplet when it passed through the V in the logo. I designed and animated it when I was creating the company's website. See it live at Waldrum Specialties!
Standing Banner Design
Dickies Girl was a subdivision of the famous workwear line. After being a part of the photoshoot and laying out the catalog, I designed this banner for use at trade shows. (That sky was not photoshopped -- we shot the day after a rare major rainstorm in LA.)
Banner for Thomas Starr King school in Los Angeles, CA
To beautify the exterior of this school, local artists were engaged to create vertical banners. Some were
painted artwork, some were abstract and I thought it would be nice to make mine educational by creating
a line drawing of the school's namesake and including one of his most inspirational quotes. I made this all
in blues because blue is the color that is most resistant to fading in sunlight.
Tote Bag Mockups
Photographed the top bag and used it to create mesh bags with licensed Disney artwork for a sales and production tool. Sometimes Show is much better than Tell!

Website Home Page Mockup
Part of the fun of working for a startup is the wide variety of tasks one can be assigned. One of
mine was to mock up a home page for the company's (not yet created) website. I wasn't given any
content so I kept it general.
Live Theatre Merch Booth (BEFORE)
I was given this as a sample shot to use for a mockup for the show Sideways.
Live Theatre Merch Booth (AFTER)
After mocking up the individual products, I mocked up the booth in which they could be sold and placed them in it.

Client wanted cartoons of the animals used for the various levels at their swim school. Since they were
going to be printed in various ways, it was important to keep the colors simple to keep costs down (there were even
simpler versions made as well).

Logo Design
Design for Jim's Roofing. It worked equally well on business cards and company apparel!
Logo Design
Sign from the logo I designed for this Los Angeles coffee company in downtown Los Angeles.

After creating an animated short for Aramark employees, I repurposed the art to create a one-page comic. This is a sample!
APPAREL
T-Shirt Reclamation
A large quantity of t-shirts with the word "MERCI" were returned to the company and I was tasked with finding a way to repurpose them. I went through a lot of style guides and found artwork that would complement the existing printing. The company was able to make a profit on the shirts and avoided wasting them. (The original is in the bottom right.)
Sublimated T-Shirt Design
I made this monochromatic so the many elements would work better together.

T-Shirt Reclamation
A large quantity of t-shirts with a southwestern desert-themed all-over print were returned to the company and I was tasked with finding a way to repurpose them. Disney Christmas Tee (front)
There are lots of companies with licenses to make Disney apparel so it behooves a retailer to get something that is unique. I designed this tee with some existing elements and then created some of my own (note the sleeve artwork) and it sold quite nicely!

Wonder Woman Lasso Tee
An advantage of making cut-and-sew t-shirts (as opposed to printing on pre-made blank tees) is that one can print off the edge of the seams. I chose this Wonder Woman graphic because I wanted to have her lasso go in and out of the neck opening, something that would make the garment special. I've seen people wearing them in public in CA and on the East Coast so I'm taking that as a sign of success!
Minnie Mouse Sporty Tee
I did a lot of variations on this theme... this is one of the more popular ones. I prefer to have the garment body show through when possible to reduce the amount of ink and thus soften the feel of the garment but the decision was not mine to make in this case. As long as the client is happy, I'm happy!
BANNERS
Email Ad for B2B apparel website
This was a little more playful than the company's usual fare but the goal was to get recipients'
attention and the feedback was positive.
Banner for B2B apparel & merchandise website
Banner showing the various products in the company's Monster's University line.
Banner for B2B apparel & merchandise website
Banner showing new apparel subcategories in the company's Hello Kitty line.

This banner topped the Closeout section of the company's B2B website.

Paper Mockup
I made a lot of cut & fold activities for Disney magazines. This is a photo of the prototype I made to create the Robot Dog featured in the Phineas & Ferb title sequence.
Presentation Board
This is an old-school presentation board created on foam core boards for a pitch meeting. It was fun to use my physical cut & paste skills again but I still prefer digital composition!
